Clark & Battoo Ltd
Independent Family Funeral Directors and Embalmers Since 1940

How we work.
Clark & Battoo Ltd is an independent, family-owned funeral home serving Trinidad from its head office at 11 Tragarete Road, Port of Spain. The business traces its origins to 1880, when J. Haynes Clark first established funeral operations on Tragarete Road, and in 1915 the firm introduced Trinidad and Tobago's first motorised hearse. The Battoo funeral home followed in the 1940s, founded by Ethelbert 'Meg' Battoo and Edward 'Del' Battoo, and the two firms merged in the 1950s to become Clark & Battoo Ltd.
“In the company's own words, every loved one is cared for 'with the utmost dignity and respect.' Clark & Battoo treats each family as its own throughout the arrangements.”
In every respect, the company maintains a tradition of personal attention to each family's needs and individual wishes. Services can be directed wherever a family chooses — in the funeral home, church, temple, mosque, synagogue, cemetery, crematorium, mausoleum or private home — and the funeral home's chapels host both religious ceremonies and private, non-religious ones. In the company's own words, 'When you need a friend to do the things that you cannot do... we'll always be there for you.'
Clark & Battoo serves families of every faith, arranging a Minister, Pundit, Priest, Imam, Rabbi, Buddhist Monk, Spiritual Mother or Lay Reader as required and supplying the ceremonial amenities appropriate to each tradition. The main chapel is fully air-conditioned and seats up to 400 guests, with two smaller chapels, a reposing room, a lift for those with limited mobility and private parking. The firm also provides cremation, national and international mortuary shipping, embalming, obituary preparation, floral tributes, marble monuments and engraving, and bereavement counselling.
Alongside the Port of Spain head office, the company operates branches at Montrose in Chaguanas and on Royal Road in San Fernando, offering full day and night service to families across Trinidad.

'When you need a friend to do the things that you cannot do... we'll always be there for you.' The firm stands beside families to carry the details they are not up to handling themselves.
Ministers, Pundits, Priests, Imams, Rabbis and Lay Readers alike — the company covers the religious needs of every tradition, and also serves families who choose non-religious forms of remembrance.
